Aboriginal Senior's Cultural Coordinator (ASCC)


 




The Aboriginal Seniors Cultural Coordinator (ASCC) will be delivering a culturally focused and holistically based program to support Seniors/Elders living in their homes.

The program is guided by the Aboriginal Health Policy and the Aboriginal community engagement report:

“Aboriginal health is holistic, physical, emotional, spiritual and cultural aspects of life, through understanding; self, a vision of wellness, which balances body, mind and spirit is supported through the healing continuum” and  “supports holistic, culturally appropriate and relevant programming.”

OBJECTIVES

The intent of the program is to provide a cultural perspective to the aging process by:

·  facilitating access to services

·  accessing traditional counselling and ceremonies

·  Assisting in keeping seniors at home longer


GOALS

·  To work at strengthening linkages and maintaining connections to the Senior’s    community life

·  To receive referrals from other Aboriginal organizations

·  To establish networking partnerships
