Board of Directors
Aaniin/Boozhoo! My name is Aaliyah Jackson. I am the Youth representative on the Georgian Bay Native Women’s Association Board of Directors. I have always been eager to work in the health care field, and I’m currently in my second year of the Practical Nursing program at Georgian College, and I plan to achieve a Bachelors of Science in Nursing within the next few years!
My name is Jennifer Brunelle, my mother comes from Algonquin territory from KitiganZibi First Nation, and my father French from Lafontaine. I was born and raised in Lafontaine/Pentetanguishene area. I am a daughter, sister, mother, auntie, and more recently, great auntie. I now live in beautiful Waubaushene with my spouse, 2 grown children and son-in law. After spending over 18 years working as a Historical Interpreter at the Simcoe County Museum, I retired from that work and found a new career at BANAC – Barrie Area Native Advisory Circle, my current role is offering cultural programming for Aging at Home folks. I’m my spare time, I keep myself busy by crafting arts and crafts, playing music and spending quality time with family, especially my great nieces.
Kathy St.Amant is honoured to be working for Banac/Mamaway Primary Health Care Team as the Red Road to Recovery Facilitator/Program Lead and I have been the President for the Georgian Bay Native Women’s Association for 2.5 years I am compassionate in working for the Indigenous community for 30 years helping individuals, families and communities to learn, thrive and achieve their goals. This has been my dream facilitating Red Road to First Nations and communities to help our people to seek a Good Life in all aspects of our Mental, Physical, Emotional and Spiritual Well Being. I am also called upon to Intervene in crisis situations to restore and maintain family health while ensuring the cultural base of “Anishinabe” is maintained. With the Red Road to Recovery, we have developed a Red Road curriculum and train-the-trainer program for front line workers working for Indigenous communities. We were recognized for this work in 2012 with a Mental Health and Addictions Community Award.
